I love this picture of Sly N the Family Stone….are they musicians, militants or both..lol. Man, talk about FUNKY. Today being George Clinton’s 70th B-day reminds me of a story: The first time I met George Clinton I remarked how much of a genius I felt he was. He shook his head and told me that his inspiration, major influence and the man he felt the “real” genius was Sly Stone. The next day I pulled out all of my Sly LP’s and gave them a another listen. I already knew all the Sly classics but what I found in that listening session was the totality of the greatness in his work. Much of what came out when he had supposedly “fell off” and was past his prime was some of his greatest works.
